I’ve been a hairstylist since I was 18 years old. Thirty some years! I have done many, many different styles and colors. starting with the mid 70′s and the soft, full long layers of Farrah Fawcett, the very stylish wedge of Dorothy Hamill, to the permed and curly look of the afro.

The punk look arrived in the early 80′s along with the bigger the better hair, and the popular Lady Diana look Also the very stylish long layered look of Bon Jovi arrived for men.

The 90′s brought in the long softer layers of Jennifer Aniston, to the messy, shaggy layers of Meg Ryan.

Early 2000 brought back the Bob look. Classic Bobs, layered Bobs and the very stylish Bob of Victoria Beckman. Also, very straight, spiked, whispey short hair, and very straight long hair with shattered ends.

2008 brought the introduction of the newest straighteners. From the Japanese straight, straight look, to the new Keratin Smoothers, a non chemical straightening process.

Yes, we’ve seen a lot of changes in our industry over the last 30 years! Remember a great stylist always educates herself and keeps up with latest styles and newest trends. We attend classes and receive training on all new styles and products to keep you looking good! That is our goal at Chapter One Hair Studio.

 Our salon only uses the highest quality of products. Some of the products that we use are Bes Regal Italian Hair color, Schwartzkof and Rusk Hair Color. Wella Blondor is used for highlights and bleaching. The Keratin smoothing treatments we use are Simply Smooth and Keratin Complex. We carry Redken, Kenra, Moroccon Oil, Bed Head, and Pro Design, just to mention a few. Chapter One Hair Studio believes that all hair is different AND there are different products that work best on each individual.

 New color/cut for 2013 using Bes Regal haircolor and Wella Blondor

Jennifer is my niece from Atlanta,GA. I’ve been doing her hair since she had hair.She has very fine, thin hair and a lot of hairdressers are afraid of this type of hair. She was coming to Sarasota for the holidays and wanted a new look -Color and Cut. She had gone to a few hairdressers in Atlanta, but just for basic easy cuts. She called me and said I want a new color and cut( something a little more drastic) but I’m afraid to let anyone else but you to do it. So the morning she arrived I met her at the salon. We decided on a cut, so we would know exactly where we wanted to apply color. We picked out a med golden brown using BES REGAL ITALIAN HAIRCOLOR for the underneath of hair in back and the bangs. We then highlighted the rest of the hair heavily using WELLA BLONDOR POWDERED BLEACH, Adding just a few Dark heavy streaks on the sides, For a dramatic look. We than began our new haircut!! I cut the bottom short and created a high stack in the back -following stack in back I angled sides to just below the chin. Then put long graduated layers in hair for volume. A side bang to show off the dark color and frame face. The results very happy!! A great new look. See for you yourself. Before and after pictures.

Keratin Smoothing, with new NV BKT uncurl straightener

Sharon is a new client who was recommended to the salon. She had a indistinct brown haircolor. And very frizzy hair which she was damaging from overly straightening with a flat iron to make it straight.

We started with the color. We applied a reddish brown color using Regal Hair Color a great Italian color with low ammonia. Then we applied Highlights using Wella Blondor bleach.

We then treated it with a conditioner and color lock by NV BKT .

I sent her home with Morroccon Oil Intense Hydrating Mask and Morroccon Oil Shampoo and conditioner.

She came in about 5 weeks later. We did a Curl Unlock by NV BKT for straightening , and then applied the Keratin Smoothing treatment.

The results are straight, shiny, frizz free and very healthy hair. Sharon is very pleased with her new look and she no longer needs a flat iron!!!

Keratin Smoothing in time for Christmas!

Michelle has just received her new Christmas style!!!

She has naturally curly and frizzy hair that in the past could have never been long and layered. Michelle has BES Regal Italian hair color with hi lites and lo lites.

We treated her hair with a new product called Cuticle Unlock that straightens hair without harsh chemicals like the old chemical straighteners. Then we applied a Keratin Smoothing Treatment over the hair (Simply Smooth) for a complete look. The Keratin conditions, shines and also is a color lock which keeps color at a minimum for fading.

The result is long, beautiful, straight, shiny and conditioned hair. This treatment will last approximately 5-6 months with good results.

Michelle has been my client for 22 years. We have done many styles and color through the years.
